Westinghouse Circuit Breaker Replacement Guide
Westinghouse Electric's circuit breaker division was acquired by Eaton in 1994. Westinghouse breakers are no longer manufactured, but millions of Westinghouse panels are still in service across the US. Finding compatible replacement breakers requires knowing which modern Eaton or Cutler-Hammer breaker is the correct substitute.
Who Makes Westinghouse Breaker Replacements?
Eaton (formerly Cutler-Hammer) is the official successor to Westinghouse's circuit breaker business. Eaton manufactures breakers that are specifically listed as replacements for Westinghouse panels. Do not use Square D, Siemens, or GE breakers in a Westinghouse panel — they are not listed for that application.
Residential Westinghouse Panel Replacements
For residential Westinghouse panels (Type BR panels):
Westinghouse BR115 → Eaton BR115 Westinghouse BR120 → Eaton BR120 Westinghouse BR220 → Eaton BR220 Westinghouse BR230 → Eaton BR230 Westinghouse BR240 → Eaton BR240
Eaton BR series breakers are directly compatible with Westinghouse Type BR panels. The catalog numbers are nearly identical.
Industrial Westinghouse Replacements
For industrial Westinghouse breakers:
Westinghouse JD3250 → Eaton JD3250 or Cutler-Hammer JD3250 Westinghouse KD3400 → Eaton KD3400 Westinghouse LD3600 → Eaton LD3600 Westinghouse HFD3100 → Eaton HFD3100
Eaton has maintained the same catalog number structure as Westinghouse for most industrial series, making cross-referencing straightforward.
Stab-Lok Panels — Do Not Use Standard Replacements
Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) Stab-Lok panels are a known safety hazard and should be replaced entirely — not repaired with replacement breakers. If you have a Stab-Lok panel, consult a licensed electrician about panel replacement.
Finding the Right Replacement
The easiest way to find the right Westinghouse replacement is to read the catalog number from the old breaker and call AllBreakerSales.com at (951) 903-9804. Our cross-reference tools can identify replacement candidates, but the physical nameplate, panel label, manufacturer documentation, and written quote must be checked before selection.
